From awe-inspiring monuments and colorful markets to the serene Nile, Cairo is an adventure of a lifetime! When we asked our team to pick a city to propose, we were expecting Paris or Santorini (those did make the list). But, Cairo and more specifically the Great Pyramid of Giza was a surprising choice and we loved it!
The Great Pyramid is the only one of the classic seven wonders of the world that you can still see today and that's why we think it would be a wonderful spot to propose. (Think about the story you can tell your kids - Ha!)
One of the first concerns you may have about proposing at the pyramid would be the crowds. After some research, we found out that the Great Pyramid Complex has plenty of spots away from the crowds where you can proclaim your love and have a scenic backdrop while doing it. While statue of the Sphinx or the great pyramid itself can be great to have in the background for a selfie, the desert behind the pyramids would be a more appropriate choice for a romantic proposal. You can go there by horseback or quad bikes or even a camel ride.
But, before you do that, we do recommend visiting the actual pyramid. You can actually get inside the pyramid! What an experience to have right before you propose. After you have spent the day exploring around the complex, head over to the desert Safari. Let your tour guide in your secret so they can suggest a scenic spot and also be there to capture the moment. After the proposal, you can head to one of the many rooftop restaurants in the city to celebrate.
The key to successfully planning this epic proposal is planning! You must have the ring with you two weeks in advance. It gives you plenty of time to do any exchanges, if needed. And, we are also big fans of booking tours and experiences in advance. You'll find many desert safari experiences online and we recommend you choose one based on all that each experience has to offer and of course by reading reviews. Also, already having a booking is one less thing to worry about since you already have the proposal to worry about.
